Antiterrorism and Blast Mitigation Aluminum
Glazing Systems
Tom Minnon, Sales Manager for YKK AP, a leading manufacturer
of architectural aluminum storefront, entrances, windows
and curtainwall will conduct a seminar on antiterrorism
and blast mitigation glazing systems. This presentation
will focus on the Department of Defense (DoD) Unified Facilities
Criteria (UFC) minimum antiterrorism standards for buildings
and how to mitigate blast damage with controlled perimeters
and standoff distances. Aluminum framing systems and glazing
types that minimize death and injury from flying glass will
be explained. Actual test footage of blast resistant glazing
systems will be shown.

- How death and injury from flying glass can be minimized
- Glass types and framing systems needed to mitigate blast
damage
- Open air blast and laboratory shock tube testing of
glazing systems
- Minimizing blast damage with controlled perimeters and
standoff distances
- Retrofitting existing glazing to minimize flying debris
- Glazing protection levels established by the Government
Services Administration (GSA)
